Bishop Jewerald "Jewel" D. Dearman
Beloved Pastor, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend
Jewerald Dearman 73, of Caldwell, Texas, passed away on February 11, 2025, in Houston, Texas. He was born Jewel Dearman to Johnnie and Thelma Dearman, on September 23, 1951, in Caldwell, Texas. He spent his young life in this country town developing a strong work ethic, athletic ability, and learning to love the Lord. He graduated from Caldwell High School as a decorated student athlete in football, and track & field. After high school, he experienced the higher calling at Blinn College of Brenham, TX, where he led many souls to Christ. After a successful athletic career in football and track & field, at Blinn College, he completed his college career at the University of Houston. The Atlanta Falcons expressed interest in drafting him to the National Football League (NFL). However, he chose to forego the opportunity to continue the higher calling on his life.
His passion for God, the Gospel, God’s people, and sports led him to his life’s careers in teaching, coaching, and pastoring. In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking up meals (both natural and spiritual food) to share with everyone. It was his way of serving God and humanity. Jewerald experienced immense pleasure helping boys grow into men. He would always say, “I am a man’s man.” He spent countless hours on the fields of McReynolds and E. O. Smith Middle Schools, and the streets of Independence Heights, ministering to people who needed the love of Christ. God blessed him to pastor Holy Temple Deliverance Church for 45 years. Even in his final months he was pastoring and sharing the love of Christ to others everywhere the soles of his feet touched, be it in Hawaii, at home (his third home FOOD TOWN), or in the hospital.
Bishop Jewerald Dearman will leave behind a legacy of self-sacrifice for others, and as a man of strong, unwavering Faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was simply a “Great Man of Faith.”
He is preceded in death by his Parents: Johnnie Dearman, Sr. and Thelma Dearman; Brothers: Henry Dearman and Elmer Dearman Sr.
