Mrs. Gloria Jean Jones

Gloria was born at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas on October 20, 1952, to the parentage of Mr. Wyonal Lee Stewart and Mrs. Vernell Joyce Kenner Stewart. She received her education in the Austin, Texas public school system.

She would later gain employment with Luby’s Cafeteria for a number of years. She would meet and later marry Mr. Elvin Whitehurst in 1971 and to this union, two children were born, Shawn and Trina. The family would relocate to Houston, Texas and their union dissolved in 1975. Later, Gloria became employed at Lerner Shops located in Downtown Houston and would later transition to gain employment with the City of Houston in the Water Department as a clerk.

In 1977, Gloria was blessed with the birth of her daughter, Sabrina. She would meet and later marry Mr. Bertram R. Jones on February 21, 1980. Their union was blessed with the birth of their son, Bertrum, Jr. in December of the same year. Gloria and Betram shared 45 years of love together.

Over the years, the family were members of various churches and visited serval others to maintain their spiritual growth and development. Gloria was very talented in making crafts of all sorts. She enjoyed sewing, decorating custom T-shirts, purses, and making dolls. Her designs even extended outside, almost every month she would decorate our mailbox! She also was a collector of salt and pepper shakers in addition to Angel, Bells, and Black Figurines. Many friends and family members were recipients of her handywork as gifts.

Gloria is preceded in death by her Father: Wyonal, her Mother: Vernell; and Sister: Collette.
