Mrs. Mary Louise Baham
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend
We gather today to honor and celebrate the life of Mary Louise Baham, affectionately known as “Bee”, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose love and kindness touched so many. She was the cherished daughter of the late Nathaniel and Francis Baham, born on June 1, 1941, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Mary’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a dedicated member of Greater St. Stephens of New Orleans, she found joy in worship, fellowship, and service. Her love for the Lord was unwavering, and she never missed an opportunity to share His goodness with others. Known for her musical spirit, she was a soprano at heart but a true alto. Even after relocating to Houston, she remained steadfast in her faith, continuing her worship at First New Hope Bible Church.
A proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in New Orleans, Mary built a life filled with love and purpose. She met and married her beloved late husband, Melvin Jackson Sr., and together they raised four children: Troy, Melvin Jr., Shawn, and Robyn. Ten years later, she welcomed her youngest son, Chris, into the world. With a heart full of love and a passion for nurturing children, she later welcomed three daughters: Rayshawn, Tiffany, and Stephanie.
Mary’s dedication to education and her drive for success led her to impactful careers. She worked at Delgado Community College and Dillard University in communications. She later discovered her talent in real estate, excelling at Prudential Gardner (formerly Gertrude Gardener) and achieving the prestigious title of “Multi-Million Dollar Realtor” for multiple years. Her entrepreneurial spirit flourished as she built a successful career in Early Childhood Education, dedicating over 30 years to nurturing and educating the next generation.
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, Mary was called home to be with the Lord. She was reunited in eternity with her parents, Nathaniel and Francis Baham, her husband Melvin Jackson, Sr., her siblings Margaret, Nathaniel, Melvin, Vivian, Rosie, Alvin, Clarence, and Noel, and her beloved grandchildren Deondra, Clarence, Dwight, Nicole, Christian, and Christopher, Jr.
