Mrs. Roberta Lynn Fischer Hair
Beloved Daughter, Wife, Mother, Sister, and Friend
Roberta Lynn Fischer-Hair died on May 1st, 2024, at the age of 67, after a 5-month struggle with an inoperable glioblastoma. She was born November 25, 1956, in Houston, Texas, to James and Dorothy Fischer. She was one of 17 children in the Fischer family. Roberta graduated from Houston’s Robert E. Lee High School in 1975, where she had been a member of the Lee Lieutenants. She graduated from Rice University in 1979 with a degree in Business Management. While working at Chiles Drilling, she met the love of her life, Gene Hair, to whom she was married for 41 years. After marriage, she moved to Allen, Texas, where she progressed to a career in software implementation, finally retiring in 2017.
She was a longtime member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen and volunteered for many years in their youth programs. She was generous with her blood and plasma as well as her time for those in need in the Dallas area. She had recently been awarded special recognition for having donated over 25 gallons of blood and plasma. She loved to travel and enjoyed attending car shows with Gene and their 1938 Pontiac.
She was a friend to all and a friend of all. It is not an exaggeration to say that she made friends in nearly every group and organization she has been a part of whether they were fellow students from school clubs or college dorm-mates to coworkers and customers of her employers’, to fellow parents, neighbors, or her children’s teachers. She had a great gift for cultivating the flower of friendship and helping it flourish. Many are grieved by the loss of Roberta.
She is survived by her husband Gene Hair; children, Benjamin, and Rachael; stepchildren Sherry, Kerry, and Erin; grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, John, Caleb, and Lera Grace; and 2 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her mom, Theresa Fischer and many sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was predeceased by her father, James Fischer and mother, Dorothy Fischer.
